Report on the Signing Ceremony of the Scientific and Research Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding between the Afghanistan International Online Academy (AIOA) and Asia e University, Malaysia (AEU)
The official signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on scientific, educational, and research cooperation between the Afghanistan International Online Academy (AIOA) and Asia e University (AEU), Malaysia, was held on Wednesday, 8 Dalw/Bahman 1404, corresponding to 28 January 2026, with the participation of academic and university officials from both institutions.
The meeting commenced under the moderation of Professor Dr. Hamidullah Mofid, Deputy for Public Relations and International Affairs of the Academy. Following the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an, their translation was presented by Ustad Asif Marouf, International Advisor to the Academy.
In his welcoming remarks, Dr. Mofid emphasized the importance of expanding international scientific cooperation under the current circumstances in Afghanistan.
Subsequently, Mr. Abdul Rahim Asadi, President of the Afghanistan International Online Academy (AIOA), delivered a keynote address. Highlighting the significant role of AIOA in providing educational opportunities to more than 7,000 students—both women and men deprived of access to education at various academic levels—he described the signing of this MoU as a strategic step toward strengthening scientific diplomacy. He added that this cooperation marks the beginning of a new phase of academic exchange and the development of educational capacities.
Thereafter, Professor Dr. Noor Rehan presented a comprehensive introduction to Asia e University (AEU), Malaysia, stating that the university is regarded as one of the most reputable academic institutions in Malaysia and the region. With more than 500 academic programs, approximately 2,000 faculty members, and three educational divisions comprising schools, university programs, and short-term skills training centers, AEU plays a prominent role in higher education.
According to the provisions of this Memorandum of Understanding, areas of cooperation include the award of academic scholarships for distinguished faculty members and students of the Academy, dispatch of researchers and faculty members to Malaysia, exchange of faculty and students, and the joint and virtual establishment of undergraduate and postgraduate (Master’s) degree programs.
In continuation of the program, Dr. Hijratullah Jabraeili, President of the Afghanistan International Online University (AIOA), underscored the significance of this ceremony and highlighted the effective role of both institutions in advancing sustainable and goal-oriented scientific cooperation.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Memorandum of Understanding was officially signed by both parties and formally entered the implementation phase.
This MoU, as part of the Afghanistan International Online Academy’s extensive engagements with four international academic forums and 43 reputable universities worldwide, represents a significant milestone in enhancing scientific synergy, exchanging experiences, and expanding educational opportunities for students and researchers of both institutions.
